
Located
around 18 km from Panaji, Anjuna Beach is situated in Bardez taluka of Goa.
Located 8 km west of Mapusa, It's the part of a 30 km stretch of beach
coastline along western coast of Goa by the Arabian Sea. The premier
attraction is Anjuna beach include Flea Market and Chapora Fort. Bathing at
Anjuna Beach is generally safer than its nearby-located resorts. A rocky
headland keeps the sea calm especially at the more peaceful southern end.
Village of Anjuna in Goa is a five square mile enclosure nestled between
Arabian Sea and the Hill overlooking the beach. Swaying palms, soft sands
and natural beauty are the hallmark of this beach. An unusual rocky
formation overlying a cove of white sand and black rock juts into Arabian
Sea. Often called as "Ozran", the area was known as the Jewel of
Anjuna. A famous early haunt of the hippies discovered it in the sixties.
Chapora fort and "Albuquerque mansion" are located nearby.

Besides
Chapora Fort and Besides Chapora Fort and Albuquerque
Mansion, a mountain is there in the east. If you are tired of the party and
interested in returning to civilization, you can climb the mountain. Get to
Baga there onwards where one can catch a ferry out. Panajim too is not far
away. Chapora Fort gives us a scenic view of nearby Anjuna and Vagator
beaches. It has remained somehow intact except a few interesting ruins. It
was a domain of the Muslim rulers before the Portuguese wrested it. Marathas
hijacked three priests from the Chapora Fort and made them Hindus in 1683.
The weekly
Flea Market of Anjuna in Goa is much popular with
tourists. It were actually a few hippies who gave rise to the market back in
the 1960s. The hippies started off with selling chillums. But today, the
scene has quite changed; the market has come to spread over a huge area and
the commotion begins right at dawn. Crystal jewellery, trinkets,
fire-sticks, juggling balls and different types of clothese are sold here.
The
Full Moon Night Parties at Anjuna were a rage for travellers at
one time. Though these trance parties are still held at Anjuna beach but the
original spirit is missing somewhere. You can enjoy these parties and meet
with like-minded travellers but time remains a constraint. These parties can
continue only till 10 PM.
If you like
swimming, South Anjuna in Goa has a small bay for you.
Tourist can spend some good time boating here as well. Also you can play
racketball or simply enjoy walking. South Anjuna is becoming pricier day by
day, as poor freaks continue to be squeezed out of here. Though North Anjuna
is cheap, single women need to take care and sleazy characters can be seen
wandering around.
Ideal Time to make a trip to Anjuna

From November To March is the best time to visit this place. Exotic beaches
of Anjuna are the main source of fascination among tourists from rest of
India and beyond. During X-mas and New Year rush, the area is so much packed
with a large crowd from throughout the country who basically come in for big
beach parties.
Eating
Out/ Restaurants at Anjuna Beach, Goa

There are a number of places close to Anjuna beach in Goa which have good
places to eat and drink. These eating joints are simple semi open aired and
palm leafed huts, specializing in fish and western food. These restaurants
serve cold beer, invariably with great techno-trance music in the
background. You will also be approached every five minutes by women selling
fruits here on the beach.
How to Reach Anjuna Beach (Rail/Road)

If you are coming from Mapusa and Panjim, you may drop at various points
along Tarmac Road across the top of the village at Main Starco's crossroads.
A couple of stores, one motorcycle taxi stand and a bus stand are there.

A limited accommodation at Anjuna comprises of small houses. Some resorts
and guest houses are there at main Starco's crossroads. Nearby located
accommodation options include Calangute, Baga or nearby Vagator or Chapora.
