about 22 km from Panaji, Vagator beach is situated in Bardez Taluka. Very
similar to Anjuna, Vagator is a relaxed and fairly undeveloped place which
has an excellent and hassle-free atmosphere. Vagator beach is the most
suitable place for those people who want to have a gala time on the beach
and want to party to the maximum. The soft white sand, the black and high
lava rocks, coconut palms, lush green landscape, calm atmosphere make
Vagator Beach different from other beaches. This beautiful beach is the
prime tourist attraction of Goa. This beach is not too much noisy and
populated. Vagator beach is rich with rural life. The best time to visit
this beach is between September to March. The nearby attractions of the
beach are Anjuna Beach, Chapora Fort and Rural life. During season, this
beach is the best place for mid night parties among all the tourists. In
South direction of this beach lies a sedate beach known as Little Vagator or
Ozran beach. This beach accommodates a fresh water pool. Vagator beach is
actually two beaches divided by rocks going out into the sea.

Vagator Beach is also known for its some of the major tourist attractions
like Anjuna Beach, Chapora Fort and Rural Life. If you feel that the sea is
not always safe for swimming, Chapora Fort is on a hill at the end, which is
fairly well preserved. Chapora, a fishing village, and beach of Vagator are
very popular among tour operators. Little Vagator or Ozran beach are however
a little further south of this main beach. A fresh water pool is
accommodated by this beach. Being one of the most beautiful of the soft
white sand beaches is the trademark of Goa and the fact is very well
reflected here.
Chapora Fort: This majestic fort takes you down the memory lane
depicting the Old Portuguese era. Chapora Fort is 500 year old Portuguese
Fort. The best way to reach this fort is hiking. Inside view of the fort is
really stunning. It was originally built by the Portuguese in 1617. The
Portuguese lost the fort to the Maratha ruler, Sambhaji in 1684, but retook
it in 1717. However, it remains extremely atmospheric, offering splendid
views of nearby Anjuna and Vagator beaches.
Rural Life: Vagator Beach is also known for its Rural Life in the
beautiful village. There are fishermen in the village who daily carry home
their heavy fishing nets and kids play among the dry docked boats. These
fishermen live in small but well decorated tiny cottages. One can sit with
these people and involve in their cultural activities. This is the best
place to feel the rural life of these fishermen.
Where to Stay


You may have to settle for whatever you can get until a vacancy opens up as
it's too hard to find a room during the high season. If the vacationers plan
to stay awhile here, it's best to arrive in late September or October and
start searching the room. A lot of houses are rented to the same people
every year. Very few hotels are in Vagator. But the guest houses run by
families are there. These are also rented out for long periods.

Little Vagator Alcove located on the cliff above offers delicious location,
ambiance and food and drinks. Tasty seafood, continental dishes, health
foods and fruity shakes are served in the restaurants in Vagator.
The Best Time To Visit

The best time to visit Vagator beach in Goa is September to March. It's a
favorite venue for mid-night parties during the tourist season. Most of the
visitors and tourists come here at this time as the climate is also
favourable for holidays.
How To Reach

A number of buses ply from Mapusa and Calangute Beach to Vagator Beach. The
best way to reach Vagator beach from Panaji is to board in bus. If you want
to take a bus to Mapusa, the bus stand is located on the main road which is
around 1 km from the beach. KTC bus station is the nearest interstate bus
station at Mapusa. It's the best to take a taxi or a motorcycle taxi as no
direct bus is available there.
