Beypore Beach

Beypore BeachLocated at the mouth of the Chaliyar River in Kozhikode district, Beypore, was one of the prominent ports and fishing harbours of ancient Kerala. It was an important trade and maritime centre then. This port city of Beypore was very much sought after by merchants from western Asia, for its ship building industry. Its boat building yard is famous for the construction of the traditional Arabian trading vessel named as Uru. A warm embrace of peace and serenity grips us as you relax at Beypore beach and gaze into the vast blue expanse of Arabian Sea. It is set 10 km south of Kozhikode and right at the mouth of Chaliyar River. Beypore was one of the prominent ports and fishing harbours of ancient Kerala. Erstwhile an important trade and maritime centre of Beypore was much sought after by merchants from western Asia for its ship building industry. Visit the beach for its enchanting environs or priceless remains of bygone times.

Attractions Around Beypore Beach

The stone bridge attracts a lot of tourists. It is made of huge stones piled together to make a pathway into the sea for nearly 2 km. Another attraction, the boat-building yard, is famous for its traditional construction of Uru or the Arabian trading vessel. The tradition of shipbuilding is almost 1,500 years old and the craftsmanship of the workers here is really exceptional. Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary here is considered as a birdwatchers paradise for housing a variety of local and migratory bird life. Migratory birds flock here in large numbers during February-March. Beypore Beach is also suitable for sunbath to get a bronze tan. Visitors may also taste the local flavor of fresh seafood of Kerala from the seaside stalls and drink a lot of cool and refreshing coconut waters.

October to May is the best suitable time to relish the rejuvenating environs of Beypore Beach

The area around Beypore Beach is studded with a number of eating joints. Either you want some cocktail or local 'Feni', you can find it here. Savoring local Goan dishes is a good idea.

How To Reach

Karipur International Airport, located around 23 km from Kozhikode town, is the nearest airport. Nearest rail-head Kozhikode is only about 10 km from Beypore. Beypore is well connected by road and just 11 km from Calicut.
