Located
at the mouth of the Chaliyar River in Kozhikode district, Beypore, was one
of the prominent ports and fishing harbours of ancient Kerala. It was an
important trade and maritime centre then. This port city of Beypore was very
much sought after by merchants from western Asia, for its ship building
industry. Its boat building yard is famous for the construction of the
traditional Arabian trading vessel named as Uru. A warm embrace of peace and
serenity grips us as you relax at Beypore beach and gaze into the vast blue
expanse of Arabian Sea. It is set 10 km south of Kozhikode and right at the
mouth of Chaliyar River. Beypore was one of the prominent ports and fishing
harbours of ancient Kerala. Erstwhile an important trade and maritime centre
of Beypore was much sought after by merchants from western Asia for its ship
