Marari Beach

Marari BeachThe sleepy fishing village of Mararikulam or Marari is around 60 km south of Cochin and even less from Alleppey. This village is tucked away behind a line of dense palms rising like a green fortification of the sands. An ideal destination to spend your holidays, Marari Beach, is set amidst the coconut groves. Life at Marari is almost the same as it has been for centuries, with the fishermen going out to sea each day to bring in the daily catch. Urban dwellers from rest of the country and beyond find it completely new as Marari offers countless miles of superb sand beaches backed by swaying palms and virgin territory. You can experience the local charm and tradition at it's best here.

You can experience the local charm as it also presents endless stretches of enticing sandy beaches that are fringed by swaying palms. Another attraction here is the traditional coir-making units but the main attraction of Marari is the hospitality of its people and the mood of the sea.

Marari has evolved naturally like all villages in picturesque disorder. Veering between the huts and everywhere, neat and clean footpaths of pungent scents of the sea easily mingle with the fragrance of coconut oil and spice, a typical coastal phenomenon. Sunbursts of red are spread out here and there on rough coir mats. Famous red chilis are without which no self-respecting fishwife would ever dream of serving up dinner. Winking of oil lamps and cooking fires transform the village into a glowing tableau in the evening, with a painted sunset as the backdrop.
