beach is one of the quietest beaches in North Goa. It lies across the
Chapora River and fort, along the North Goa coastline in Pernem Taluka.
Peace and Tranquility are the two words that can easily describe the beach
of Morjim. This beach is a natural choice for Olive Ridley turtles for
breeding. However, touching the eggs or hatchlings is a punishable offense.
A signboard in this regard has been put up on the beach. Food is not a
problem as there are restaurants that serve good Continental food and
desserts. Accommodation is not a problem as tents, beach houses, tree houses
and log cabins are available. The most interesting thing about this beach is
that you will not be disturbed by anyone except the sound of sea birds and
crashing waves. Warm waters of the Arabian Sea here at Morjim Beach are
nothing less than a paradise for swimmers. Morjim is a rural place also
known for its customs and traditions like most Goan villages. This place is
also the home of Goa's traditional folk-dance Ghoddemodni and Maddachem
Godd.

Around Morjim Beach

Morjim Beach is situated along with the coastline in Pernem Taluka which is
studded with a lot of temples. The reason is that it was not under
Portuguese control until the new conquests. Some of the important temples in
Pernem include Shree Morajaee Temple, Shree Bhagwati Temple, Shree Betal
Temple, Shree Sapteshwar-Bhagwati Temple and Shree Shantadurga Temple. Other
attractions of the beach are Terekhol Fort across Terekhol River. The
majestic Deshprabhu House, belonging to the erstwhile Pernem royal family,
is another attraction of Pernem. It's considered to be one of Goa's grandest
Hindu mansions situated in the town of Pernem.
Sun set at the beach is really a captivating experience. Very few tourists
have been able to explore this wonderful, quite and secluded beach. You just
need to walk a couple of km in either direction along the beach and you are
in the lap of Mother Nature. Sand, sea and sky blend in enchanting natural
harmony here. Crystal clear water here is the paradise of swimmers.

Best Time To Visit

November to March is the best time to visit Morjim Beach. Most of the
tourists also prefer to visit the place during X-mas and New Year as this
beach. The whole of the area is so much packed with a large crowd from
throughout the country who basically come in for big beach parties.

How To Reach

A number of buses run between Mapusa and Pernem to Morjim. A ferry service
also plies from the Chapora side of the river to Morjim and Chopdem. Nearest
interstate bus station is located at Mapusa, local KTC bus station.
