Desperately
seeking escape from torchurous heat of Southern Plains, Americans and
Britishers were relieved after going through the reports of Lt. B.S. Ward.
He was the first European to visit Kodaikanal in the year 1821. Located
amidst the folds of the verdant Pali hills, Kodaikanal acts in a way as a
cold chilled glass of water does to a thirsty fellow in a hot summer day.
The magical effect of this serene hill station leaves everyone mesmerized.
Wooded slopes, mighty rocks, enhancing waterfalls and a beautiful lake, all
add to the charm of this hill station.
One can alight at Madurai Airport, Coimbatore Airport or Trichy Airport.
Many Passenger trains pass through Kodaikanal road. The nearest train
stations are Palani to the north (on the Coimbatore-Madurai-Rameshwaram
line), and Kodai Road on the Madurai-Trichy-Chennai line to the east. Both
are about three hours by bus. Kodaikanal is connected by Road with all
important towns. Regular bus services are available from Kodaikanal to
Madurai, Palani, Kodai Road, Theni, Dindigul, Thiruchirappalli, Kumuli,
Bangalore and Coimbatore.
