Lahaul and Spiti Travel

In Lahul Valley

Keylong
Set an altitude of 3340 m, Keylong enjoys a pleasant climate that makes it an ideal place for travelers to escape the heat of of plains. The exotic charm of the valley is visible in its snow clad mountain ranges, meandering stream and sprawling field.

Kardang Monastery - Kardang Monastery, set at an altitude of 3500 m is another attraction of the valley. The monastery was built in 12 century AD. Reflecting the Lahaul and Spiti style of architecture. It houses antique artifacts including colorful frescoes, murals, Thangkas paintings & musical instruments such as lutes, horns, drums and old armory. The library in the monastery consists Tangyur and Kangyur volumes of Buddhist scriptures in Bhoti.

Tayul Gompa - Tayul Gompa situated in close proximity to Keylong is one of the oldest monasteries in the valley. Five ft tall statue of Guru Padmasmbhava and library of Kangyur are the prime attractions within the monastery.

In Spiti Valley

Kunzum Pass
Kunzum Pass situated at an altitude of 4590 stretches from Spiti to Lahaul. The spectacular view of natural surroundings mesmerizes the visitors. An ancient temple dedicated to Goddess Durga is worth visiting. On your way have a magnificent view of world's second largest glacier – Bara-Sigri glacier.

Losar - Losar is located at the merging point of two streams – Losar and Peeno. The small village displays the sprawling domain of greenery that offers some excellent views. It is the first big village in the Spiti valley, covering a large area. Apart from sightseeing also enjoy Yak and horse riding here.

Dhankar Monastery - Dhankar Monastery is located at a beautiful Dhankar village, tucked at a distance of 25 km from Kaza. The prime attraction within the monastery is a huge statue of "Vairochana" which shows four complete figures of Buddha seated back to back. It also houses few Buddhist paintings, sculptures and scriptures. Around 100 Lamas resides in the monastery.

Air: Bhunter Airport is the closest airport from Lahaul and Spiti
Rail:The nearest railheads connecting the valley are Shimla, Jogindernagar and Chandigarh.
Road:Lahaul and Spiti district is easily accessible by road from two different locations one is Sumdo (Kinnaur District) and another is through Manali.
