How to Reach Daman and Diu

» By Rail : Vapi railway station located just 12 km from Daman is the nearest railhead. A number of trains on the route stop here. Delwada is the closest railhead for Diu. Una is another railway station located nearby which is connected to rest of the country through different means of transport.

Key Attraction

Day One : Daman
» Stop 1 : Moti Daman
Constructed way back in 1559, the massive walls of the fort run like a girdle round the entire settlement. The mammoth structure spans over an area of 30,000 sq feet and consists of 10 bastions and 2 massive gateways. Rare inscriptions on the southern gate mention of this being completed in 1593. The northern end of the fort had a number of palaces and other official buildings.

» Stop 2 : Nani Daman
Nani Daman is a beautiful place that offers numerous attractions to the tourists such as Gandhi Park, Nani Daman Fort and an ancient church. The fishing jetty is where the tourists can enjoy a pleasant boat ride.

Day Two : Daman
» Stop 1 : Somnath Mahadev Temple
One of the most important places of worship in Daman, Somnath Mahadev temple located in village Dabhel is dedicated to Lord Shiva. A legend associated with the place has it that the 'Shivalinga' here originated miraculously with the efforts of a man who was a true devotee of Lord Shiva.

Stop 2 : Devka and Jampore Beach
Devka is a serene beach with a long shoreline, situated in the northern part of Daman. An amusement park located on the beach is a major tourist attraction.

Diu FortDay Three : Diu
» Stop 1 : Diu Fort
Located on the coast of Diu island, Diu fort is an imposing structure and one of the major tourist attractions of the place. The fort was constructed in 1541 after a defense alliance between the Portuguese and the emperor of Gujarat, Bahadurshah.

» Stop 2 : Diu Town
Diu is a laidback town where the colonial flavour can still be felt in the form of numerous structures and forts. Besides the local bazaars, the church and museum of St. Thomas is also worth a visit
