Located towards the eastern corner of the Indian sub-continent, Manipur is
also known as 'paradise on earth' for the immense bounties that mother

Reach Manipur
» By Air : Triumphal, the capital and one of the
most important cities of Manipur has an airport which connects it with other
cities in India including Delhi, Kolkata and Guwahati through regular
flights. Indian Airlines operate regular flights to Imphal and some of the
other neighbouring of Manipur.
» By Rail : Manipur does not have a railway
station. However, there are other nearby cities like Guwahati, Silchar and
Dimapur which have railway station and connected through regular trains to
rest of the country. Regular buses and taxis are available for Manipur from
all these places.
» By Road : National Highway 39 connects Manipur
with other cities in the north east which are further connected to rest of
the Indian cities

Day One : Imphal
The capital of Manipur, Imphal is the ideal location for those who like to
venture into the offbeaten track. The city with its lush greenery, blue

» Stop 1 : Manipur Zoological Gardens
Situated eight kilometers from Imphal, Manipur Zoological Gardens is home
to some of the most exotic species of flora and fauna. The beautiful brow
antlered thiamine deer is one of the most rarest species of deer found in
the world.
» Stop 2 : Shri Govindajee Temple
The people of Manipur are very religious and hold the places of religious
importance in high esteem. Shri Govindajee Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu
is an important centre of worship for the Vaishnavites. Built during the
18th century, the temple is known for its exquisite architecture.
» Stop 3 : Manipur State Museum
The best place for a peek into the history of Manipur is the state museum.
The place has a huge collection of traditional Manipuri costume, war
implements, relics and other rare objects.
Day Two : Bishnupur
Situated 27 km from Imphal, Bishnupur is located at the foot of a lush
hill. Besides its exotic natural beauty, the place is also known for the
15th century Vishnu Temple, Keibul Lamjao National Park and Loktak Lake.
