
The
Idukki National Park is located at 40 kms from Thodupuzha and Udumpanchola
taluks of its district at 450 m above sea level. The major contour of Idukki
is defined by conjunction of three dams viz. Cheruthoni, Idukki and
Kulamavu. A nonpareil land stretched along a picturesque lake and herds of
small and big elephants grazing , trumpeting and romping make up the picture
of Idukki, as it was declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1976. An enchanting
canopy of tropical semi evergreen and deciduous forest along with languors,
leopards and boars presents attractive picture of the place.
